WELL KNOWN LAKE RESIDENT IS DEAD
Mrs. Gertrude Jordan Dies at Home of Daughter, Mr. Nick Kloeckner Mrs. Gertrude Jordan passed away Wednesday, November 23 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nick Kloeckner at Wayzata. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fidelis Lucking, O.S.B. at St. Bartholomew's Church Saturday morning, with burial in Holy Name Cemetery. Six grandsons were the pall bearers.
Mrs. Jordan had been ill for almost two years, and for the past fifteen weeks had been bedridden. She was 80 years old last April, and was born in Sittard, Holland.
When Mrs. Jordan was ten years old she came with her parents to America in a sailing vessel, and spent 59 days in crossing the Atlantic. The family settled at Cologne, Minn., where in 1871 the deceased was married to Andrew Jordan. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan settled on a farm in Plymouth township. Mr. Jordan died December 12, 1905. Mrs. Jordan has made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kloeckner since 1917.
Mrs. Jordan was a devoted member of St. Bartholomews and member of the Rosary Society. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Jordan of Wayzata, Katherine Gehring of Phillips, Wis., Elizabeth Eskes* of Plymouth township, and Mrs. (Elizabeth) Kloeckner, and by one son, John Jordan of Robbinsdale.
* Elizabeth Jordan Eskes was Gertrude Jordan's stepdaughter. She was the daughter of Andrew Jordan and his first wife, Klara Kramer.
