An Army marksman, he served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a professional baseball player from 1952 to 1960, affiliated with Jamestown, N.Y., Detroit Tigers, Augusta, Ga., Tigers, Nashville, Tenn., Vols., Birmingham, Ala., Barons, Lancaster Red Roses, and Louisville, Ky., Colonels.

He served as vice president and was on the board of directors. He took great care of the field for the Ashland Little League for more than 50 years. He also coached Ashland Teener League and Northern Valley Legion baseball teams.

He was a member of the St. Mauritius Church, Washington Fire Company, the American Legion and the Good Fellowship Club, all in Ashland. He was a member of the Bull Rush Cabin, Renovo. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Ashland Recreation Committee.

He loved to be around his family.

He was self-employed as a milkman for many years. He retired from delivering newspapers for The REPUBLICAN & Herald.
