For eight seasons, he played with the New York Giants (1942-47), Boston Braves (1947-49) and Chicago Cubs in 1950. He ended his career with a record of 74 wins, 84 loss, 74 complete games, 13 shutouts, 3 saves, 645 strikeouts and a 3.83 earned run average. He died in Greenwood, South Carolina, at age 86.
