Ingrid Scharfenberg was the long-time owner and manager of the Hotel zum Türken on the Obersalzberg, Berchtesgaden, Germany. Her grandfather Karl Schuster had bought the house in 1911 and turned it into a hotel, but Adolf Hitler moved into the house next door in 1927. When Hitler became German Chancellor in 1933, the presence of SS guards ruined Schuster's hotel business, and he was forced to sell and move. Frau Scharfenberg was born in Salzburg, Austria, while the family was in exile from the Türken.

The hotel was badly damaged in a bombing attack on Hitler's house in April 1945, but Frau Scharfenberg's mother Therese Partner moved back into the ruins with her two young daughters and rebuilt the hotel into a thriving business. After her mother's death in 1971, Frau Scharfenberg ran the Hotel zum Türken with her husband Otto (until his death in 1993). Under Frau Scharfenberg's management the Hotel zum Türken was one of the most popular guest houses in the Berchtesgaden area, housing many repeat guests from all over the world. Frau Scharfenberg was known as one of the most cordial hotel hostesses in the area.
