Services for Guy Thompson Vise Sr. will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Rhett Payne III and Richard Martin Vise Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vise, 96, of Meridian, died at his home. He practiced medicine for more than 50 years in Meridian. He was devoted to his family and patients and also had a great interest in forestry. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was elected elder emeritus.

Survivors include his sons, Dr. Guy T. Vise Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Jackson, Dr. Michael Vise of Jackson, Murray Vise of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Richard Vise and his wife, Betty, of Meridian; daughter, Mailande Vise Turner of Pensacola, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Dr. Guy T. Vise III, Will Vise, Marion Turner, Murray Turner, Martin Turner, Rachel Vise, Mailande Vise, Richard, Duncan Elizabeth, and Rachel Vise Adams; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mailande "Peg" Martin Vise.

The family requests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Meridian.

Pallbearers will be the seven grandsons of Dr. Vise and Bailey Adams, grandson-in-law.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
