LARRY GROTE
Larry Carl Grote, age 40 of Sabetha, died Saturday, August 1, 1987 at a Sabetha hospital where he had been a patient one day. He had Muscular Dystropjy. Larry had written articles and chronicled weather records for a news bulletin at Sabetha Manor where he had been a resident since July 3, 1981.
Larry was born September 18, 1946 at Sabetha, the son of Harold and Lois Kreitzer Grote. He attended Sabetha public schools and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1965. He was graduated from Emporia State University in 1970 with a bachelor of business administration and accounting degrees.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Sabetha where he was baptized. Because of disability he was unable to work but he continued to keep hiss mind very active. His interest in sports and the weather and world news filled his days. His friendly manner and concern for family and friends made it very easy to visit with Larry.
Larry is survived by his parents of the home, a sister, Nancy Cox of Sabetha, three brothers, Stan Grote of Bayard, Iowa, Roger and Paul Grote of Sabetha, brother-in-law Jerry Cox of Sabetha. Three nieces, three nephews and one great nephew and a grandmother, Mrs. Carl Munz of Sabetha also survive.
Funeral services were held August 4, 1987 at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel,. Rev. Scott Schmidtke officiated. Interment was made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
