Worked in the LBJ Summer White House for many years, then the LBJ National Park Service, where she retired from in 1994, she was given at picture signed by Lady Bird Johnson, which says "For Pearl, who has been around this Park longer than anybody but me, I believe, and who will be so very much missed! Affectionate best wishes, Lady Bird Johnson"
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Henry Weed, Sr., son David Henry Weed, Jr., great grandson, Aiden Lane Elledge, 3 brothers, W.B Ricketts; Morris Ricketts; and Roy Ricketts, two sisters, Iris Engelke, and Florence Weed
Pearl is survived by four daughters, one son & spouses, Iva & Bruce Lawhon of Pflugerville, TX.; Julia Weed of Fredericksburg; Iris & James Elledge of Austin; Donald & Merry Weed of Fredericksburg; Ida & Martin Cortez of Boerne, 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, four sisters in law, Novella, Mrs. Roy Ricketts of Kingsbury, Tx.; Idella, Mrs. Floyd Fleetwood of Duncan, Oklahoma; Oletta, Mrs. Curtis Poole of West Columbia, Tx.; and Loreta, Mrs. Gene Oestreich of Llano
Funeral services for Iva Weed will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2013 at 10:00 A. M. in the Chapel Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, with Rev. Milton Poole officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in the Willow City Cemetery, in Willow City, Texas.
Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in her memory to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Dept.
Visitation for Iva Weed will be Thursday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:00 P. M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, and Friday morning from 7 to 10:00 A. M.
