Miss Lawhead, Ex-Minister, Succumbs, Miss Millie M. Lawhead, 84, retired Friends Church minister and evangelist and former resident of South Walnut Street, died at 5:30 p. m. Thursday in the County Home Hospital. She had been in ill health for a number of years. Miss Lawhead , daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lawhead, was born June 29, 1874, in Van Wert. She graduated with high scholastic honors with the class of 1893 of Van Wert High School. Miss Lawhead taught in the Van Wert city schools for seven years and, following the death of her parents, she went to Cincinnati where she studied at God's Bible School. Following her religious training Miss Lawhead did evangelistic work in many churches in many states in the country. She was a member of the First Friends Church and had been active for years in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma T. Smith of Leeson Avenue; a newphew, Arthur Smith of Leeson Avenue; a niece, Mrs. Ilo Lawhead Denny of Winchester, Ind., and a number of great nieces and nephews. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery.
