ALEX ARNHOLD DIES OF HEART ATTACK

Alex Arnhold, 63, of Elk Lake, former owner of the Elk Lake Bar died this morning (Wednesday), at his home of a heart attack.

Mr. Arnhold operated the bar here for many years before going back to Saginaw, a few years ago. He retired last year and moved into his summer home at Elk Lake.

Besides his wife, Dona, he is survived by one son, Fred, of Saginaw; and two grandchildren.

Rites will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Johns Lutheran Church, West Branch. Friends may call at the Steurnol Funeral Home. Gladwin County Record dated 4-8/1970

SERVICES HELD FOR ALEX ARNHOLD

Alex Paul Arnhold, 64, of Clement Township, died suddenly Wednesday morning, April 8, of a heart attack.

Born in Saratov, Russia, on Feb. 6, 1906, he was a retired superintendent of mechanics for General Motors. In 1943, Mr. Arnhold purchased the Elk Lake Tavern and sold it in 1951. He returned to General Motors and lived in Toledo, Ohio, for 18 years before returing to Elk Lake in March 1969 following retirement.

Mr. Arnhold was vice president of the St. Johns Lutheran Church Council and a member of the Society of Tool and Dye Engineers.

He was married to the former Dona Finner who survived. Also surviving is one son Frederick, of Saginaw; and two grandchildren.

Rites were held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from St. Johns Lutheran Church, West Branch. The Rev. Martin Schliebe officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery, Gladwin. Arrangements were in charge of Steurnol Funeral Home, West Branch. Gladwin County Record dated 4-29/1970
