Onie Wheeler was a singer, songwriter and musician in country and bluegrass music. Known best as a harmonica player he recorded for Columbia, Sun and several lesser record companies between 1955 and 1973. He also worked with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and recorded with them. He collapsed and died of a heart attack while onstage.

Has a Brick with his Name on it in a Military Honor Pathway in Sherman,MO. (ST Louis County),where he resided before joining Roy Acuff's band and moving to Nashville. Member of the Stovalls Grove Wall of Fame. Recognized in Dunklin County for duty in Pearl Harbor.
