Bernice M. "Bea" Johnson, 79, of Sycamore, Ill., died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Born Sept. 14, 1928, in Noland, Ark., she was the daughter of Jacob S. and Ollie J. (Sneed) Moore. She grew up and attended schools in DeKalb, then later worked in the area. She married Wesley L. Johnson Oct. 18, 1952, in Sycamore.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore and a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley Johnson of Sycamore; three sons, Roger (Gayle) Braffett and Michael "Murph"(Sherry) Johnson of Sycamore and Kent (Lori Hill) Johnson of Kansas City; two sisters, Lillian Beggs of Yorkville and Lee Vick of Chicago; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn (Steve) Baer of Denver, Mark Braffett of DeKalb, Christian (Val) Freeman of Lakewood, Layla (Ryan) Bomstad of Naperville, and Keegan Johnson of Sycamore; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tom "Jake" Moore and Ken Moore.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore with the Rev. Janet H. Hunt officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk Street, Sycamore. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
