Winfried "Win" Goetsch, 85, of 114 Knox St., Wausau, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998 at Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1912, in the town of Maine, to the late Robert and Wilhelmine (Hackbart) Goetsch. Win married Leona Porath on Sept 18, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Win and his brother Sigmund were owners of Goetsch Brothers Construction Co. in Milwaukee, specializing in church and residential construction. While living in Milwaukee, Win was very active at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. After retiring in 1980, Win and Leona moved back to Wausau where he pursued his love for painting in watercolors, woodworking, and reading. In 1937, Win became a charter member of Local 1741 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners-Milwaukee, and a member of the Central Wisconsin River Valley Building and Construction Trades Council Local 310.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; a daughter, Jane Borchardt, Schofield; many nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Eugene Borchardt; seven brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be a 10:30 am Fri., Jan 16, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev Gary Schultz will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine. Friends may call from 4 pm until 8 pm today at the Helke Funeral Home, and again from 9:30 am Friday until the time of services at the church.
