The Rev. Alvin C. Rose died at Marshall's Infirmary October 20. Since 1890, Mr. Rose had resided in Round Lake until about two months ago, when, on account of his physical and mental condition, it was thought advisable to take him to the infirmary.
He was one of the oldest ministers of the Troy Conference, having joined in 1846. He was well known in Eastern New York and has filled a number of charges in this vicinity, as follows: Pawling Avenue Troy, Ohio Street Watervliet, Green Island, Cohoes, Stillwater, Granville, Hartford, and Kinderhook. From 1884 to 1886 he was State Lecturer of the New York Temperance Society. Mr. Rose was author of several religious works, among them being "Daily Helps." He was associated with Mrs. John P. Newman in editing a religious magazine. Mr. Rose was one of the committee appointed to select the site of the Round Lake Camp grounds and in the early days of the camp meetings was an efficient leader of the singing and possessed a fine tenor voice. He entered superannuated conditions in 1890, having served nearly 50 years in the ministry. Mr. Rose was 79 years old and is survived by a widow and three daughters, Mrs Ella Rush of Reading Pa; Mrs. Ada Tanner of Buffalo, and Miss Jessie Rose of Chicago. The funeral will be held at his late home, probably on Wednesday. The interment will be at Mechanicville.

The funeral of the Rev. A.C. Rose occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church. The Rev. Charles Wilcox made the opening prayer and Dr. T.A.Griffin, Dr. Joseph King and Dr. E.C.Farwell assisted in the services. Dr. Griffin made some impressive remarks. He said in brief that the deceased was a man of more than ordinary ability. He spoke of his work in compiling "The Revivilist" where a number of the hymns were original. The doctor dwelt also upon his work in the practical part of the ministry, for it was through his efforts that St. Luke's church of Cohoes, was built, where he even assisted in the manual labor of the building. Mrs. Edward Bacheller sang "When the Mists Have Rolled Away." The service was closed by the congregation singing "Blessed Assurance" which had always been his favorite hymn.
