Margaret Elizabeth Blackwell Overcash, 86, of Oakboro passed away Tuesday June 10, 2014, in her home.

Her funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday June 15, 2014 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Nalin Mehta officiating and burial will follow in the New London Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.

Born August 10, 1927 in Roswell, GA she was the daughter of the late Vernon Lamont Blackwell and Ruth Aleece Adams Blackwell.

She retired as the secretary at New London Elementary School with 31 years of service. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star for over sixty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Allen Overcash who preceded her in death in December of 2012.

Survivors include daughter Aleece Overcash Lehman and husband Randy of Oakboro, sister Nell King of Charlotte, and 2 grandchildren Ashlee McKeon of New York and Margaret Anspach of Oakboro.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or to the Alzeheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shanrock Dr. #999, Charlotte, NC 28215.
