Wife of conductor Erich Kleiber and mother of conductor Carlos Kleiber. An American who spoke not a word of German, she met her husband while she was working at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires. He immediately asked her to marry him but she declined. He then booked her passage to Germany and made sure she had warm clothing, a substantial allowance and white roses every day on her voyage. She arrived in Germany and the two were married in Berlin on 29 December 1926. They had a daughter, Veronica, in March 1928 and their son, Carlos, was born in July 1930. She is interred next to her husband. Note that her step-father was Stephen F. Goodrich (1854-1940), memorial #65531385.
