This morning from the tower of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church here the bell tolled heavily and announced the death of our highly respected elderly fellow citizen, Daniel Westphal, who was released from his unbearable suffering last evening. Daniel Westphal was born December 7, 1824 in Wehlingsdorf, Pomerania, Germany and thus was in the 81st year of his life. He was married on April 16, 1857 to Auguste Krueger and immediately thereafter emigrated to America. He came to the Town of Theresa and settled with his wife on a farm, where he lived for thirty years. In the year 1888 he sold his farm and moved to Mayville, where he lived until his death. He is survived by his wife, also advanced in age, and three children, namely: Ernst Westphal from Milwaukee, Mrs. Hermann Pribnow from the Town of Theresa and Mrs. Franz Schoepke from Oakfield. His funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from the funeral home to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church and from there to the Graceland Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
