HOPE VALLEY, R.I. - Joseph R. ""Uncle Joe"" Rekowski, 76, of Woodville-Alton Road, Hope Valley, R.I., died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at the Westerly Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Naylor) Rekowski. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 5, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Braffett) Rekowski.Joe was employed at Electric Boat in Groton, Conn., for over 40 years before retiring as a nuclear inspector. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and Bay of Pigs.He was a life member of the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District and had served as deputy chief. He was a life member of the NRA.He was a good father, husband, brother, grandpa, and uncle. He loved fishing, hunting, and cooking, and sharing these with his kids and grandkids. He loved being with his family and making ""Gram's"" special recipes. Joe coached Little League, was a Webelo leader, and always attended sports activities.Besides his loving wife of over 47 years, he will be sadly missed by his children. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Barton.
