The body of Henry Montagne, 84 years old, former Ottumwan who died at his home in Inglewood, Calif., Wednesday at 8:40 a.m. will arrive on Milwaukee train No. 8 at 3:30 p.m. Monday and will be taken to the Johnson funeral chapel, where short funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday and at 1:30 at St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. L.A. Stumme, pastor will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John Haeffner of Muscatine. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
Mr. Montagne was born in Germany, October 6, 1849, and came to the United States in 1872. He first went to Clinton and then came to Ottumwa in 1876.
He was married to Elizabeth Dinklage on February 25, 1877, and to this union three children were born. She preceded him in death November 24, 1916. He later married Mrs. Augusta Born of Davenport. In 1909 Mr. Montagne moved to Inglewood.
Surviving are his second wife; a son, Louis Montagne; a grandson, Otto Montagne, and two great-grandchildren, Joy and Richard Montagne, all of Ottumwa, and one sister, Mrs. Helen Mace of Agency.
Pallbearers for the services will be Robert Funk, John Davies, Tom Michael, Sam Styre, Frank Gibbons and Charles Prosser.
