Alexander Leroy Wild was born in 1831 in Burningtown, Macon County, North Carolina, the son of John Jacob Wild and Margaret Hensley. He married Celia Brittain Bird in 1855 in Macon County, and they had 9 children.

5- Margaret Wild (c.1865-c.1866).

During the Civil War, Alexander served in Company A 65th Regiment North Carolina Cavalry CSA.
