Gladys served in executive capacities in the National Council of Jewish Women, the Red Cross, the U.S. Commission for UNESCO, the New Orleans chapter of the National Conference of Social Work and the Louisiana Cancer Society, and she was named to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission in 1960.

She was survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, a sister, and six grandchildren.
