She was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of Charlie Irving and Grace Mildred Batterson Scudder. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Barbara) Scudder.
Surviving are her four children, Lohri Cerny; Greg (Lorna) Cerny, Todd (Darlene) Cerny and Julie (Dan) McHenry; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and sisters, Rose (Rudolf) Link and Sharon (Jim) Huffman.
After spending many selfless years at home caring for her beloved children, Patricia entered the workforce after receiving her master's in social work from the University of Nebraska.
She worked in the Decatur Public School system at many of the grade schools and junior high schools as a social worker. She was an instrumental partner in the teen girls’ pregnancy program during her tenure in Decatur.
While performing her duties as a social worker, she was awarded a teaching certificate after many years of hard work and determination, all the while caring for her four children at home. She was also a second mom to many of the neighborhood children while her children were coming of age.
