Hantz Mosher (aka Hanson Mosher) was born in 1854 in Kentville, Cornwallis Township, Kings County, Nova Scotia, the eldest son of David Mosher and Catherine Huston. He was christened as Hans Mosher at Saint John's Anglican in Cornwallis, the church where his parents were married in 1851.
Hantz married Jane Matilda Allen (1867-1941) in 1888 in Springfield, Annapolis County, and they lived in Bridgewater, Lunenberg County.
He worked for Canadian Railways from 1870 to 1922. He was the first conductor on the Nova Scotia Central Railway whose initial run of the Halifax & Southwestern Railway from Liverpool to Halifax was Jan. 16, 1905.
Hantz died in 1922 in Bridgewater at age 68 from influenza.
Jane married James Ebenezer Zwicker (1871-1960) in 1932. Jane died in 1941 in Martin's River, Lunenberg County.
