Florence M. Pfister
Mrs. Florence M. Pfister, 91, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, formerly of Crater Ave., Dover, and Canton, died Sunday in the center after a long illness.
Born at Dover, she was a daughter of the late Edward C. and Emma Weaver Karl. She was employed 15 years as office secretary for the late Drs. F.C. Yeager and C.M. Fisher.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover and its Christian Mothers, was a charter member and founder of Loyola Study Club and served on the board of Dover Girl Scouts. She was a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church at Canton and was a column writer, known as Aunt Min, for the former Catholic Home Journal of Pittsburgh. Her husband, Albert Pfister, died May 27, 1971.
Surviving are a daughter and a son, Mrs. Norma Ensign of St. Petersburg, Fla., and James A. of Columbus; a half sister and two half brothers, Mrs. Robert (Rose Ann) O’Donnell and John and Edward Karl, all of RD 2, Dover; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son and a sister are deceased.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. James Menkhus officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover where the rosary will be said at 8:45.
