On July 18, 1904 he received an Army Invalid Pension for his service in the Civil War, and following his death, his wife Rebecca received an Army Widows Pension beginning on April 30, 1908.
When Charles died on Dec 19, 1906 in New York City, his death certificate stated he was a 70 year old Minester born in Ohio in 1836 and buried in Illinois.
