John Nees, aka Johann Nes/Nesz, was born April 14, 1775, most likely in Franconia Twp, the son of Henrich Nees and Catharina Franck. He lived to the age of 92, and was the father of several children. He was a notable potter, and his work can currently be found in multiple museums, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the American Folk Art Museum in New York.
