GAR G 25th Illinois Infantry.

After an illness of several weeks, Sylvanius Brooker, age 70, died at his home, South Eighth Street, Chickasha, Oklahoma, 13 Nov 1918 at 11:30 p.m. He was born in Lowell, Ohio, 7 Jun 1848. He was married 8 Mar 1872 and is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters: Clarence Booker and Mrs. T. H. Bennett, both of this city, Mrs. Fred Conquest of El Reno, Oklahoma. He moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas, 5 Dec 1892, where he was an employee of the Rock Island for ten years and moved to Chickasha where he engaged in farming and leaving the farm on account of his health moved to the city where the death occurred. He held the respect of all who knew him and the sympathy of the host of friends is extended to the sorrowing relatives he leaves to mourn his loss.

Funeral services will be conducted at the residence Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. Albright. Interment will occur in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Brooker, the deceased, is the father of Ross Brooker, who succumbed to Spanish influenza at Louisville, Kentucky, 29 Oct, and who was buried here November.

Brooker burial details from Susan M. McDaniel, Chickasha City Clerk: "Limited information is available due to the cemetery records being destroyed in a fire in the late 1930's early 1940's. I am told attempts to recreate the records were minimal due to the fact that they did an inventory of headstones. Many headstones were unreadable or just non-existent. Therefore, if there was not a headstone at that time, no information was able to be obtained. However, this is what information (as little as it is) I located: C. H. Brooker is the owner of Block 13 Lot F and Clarance H. Brooker buried 5/12/29. C. H. Brooker is the owner of Block 14 Lot C. Nothing else is available on this.".
