Actor, Comedian, Magician. He was best known to television viewers as the quirky 'Judge Harry T. Stone' on the 1980s NBC situation comedy "Night Court" from 1984 to 1992. Born Harry Laverne Anderson, he was drawn to the art of magic in his youth and reportedly made money performing magic on the streets of San Francisco, California at the age of seventeen. He made his way to Los Angeles and its famed Magic Castle in the early 1980s where he connected with an agent. He would go on to appear on several NBC Saturday Night Live episodes around this time. He made his first acting debut in the television movie "Twilight Theater" in 1982. Besides "Night Court", he went on to appear on such television shows and miniseries as "Cheers", "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color", "Tales from the Dark Side", "It", "Dave's World", and "30 Rock". He was nominated three times for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy Award during his years on "Night Court". In 2000, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to open a nightclub and a magic and curio shop.
