Leonard Darius Jaqua was born in 1863 in Buckingham, Tama County, Iowa, the son of Gamaliel Jaqua and Christina Thomas. He married Elizabeth Margaret Hovelburg in 1887 in Calhoun County, Iowa, and they had a daughter Ina Jaqua. By 1900, the family was living in Harrison County, Missouri where Leonard was working as a farmer. The family moved to Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon in 1903. Leonard died in 1906 in an oil tank explosion in the St. Johns area of Portland. Elizabeth died in 1952 in Manhattan where daughter Ina was working at the time. Ina retired in 1958 to Portland and died in 1963 in Portland.
