Clarence V. Radford was born in 1884 in Athens County, Ohio, the eldest of the 3 children of Thomas B. Radford and Elizabeth Laubner.

For the 1910 census, Clarence Radford was living with his father and his step-mother Mary Radford.
Clarence married Julia Fish Zolskey in 1914. For the 1920 census, Clarence was living with Julia, their daughter Bonita, and 2 of Julia's children from her prior marriage. Starting with the 1920 census, Clarence's recorded birthplace shifts from Ohio to Nebraska.
For the 1930 census, Clarence was living with his 2nd wife Bessie Hammel and his daughter Bonita from his 1st marriage. 2 other children are listed in the household with the surname Radford, but those children are probably from Bessie's 1st marriage.
