Mabel Elizabeth Maynard Johnson, 78, formerly of Virginia Beach, died July 20, 1991, in a Birmingham hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born in New Castle, Ind. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. She was an award-winning rose gardener and a member of Princess Anne Garden Club. She was named an honorary Jaycee member for her work in the beautification of Pacific Avenue in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn J. Seibert of Birmingham and Rebecca J. Sadler of Virginia Beach; two sons, Gary B. Johnson and Bob G. Johnson, both of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Mildred Wooten of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Nancy Baity of Yadkinville, N.C., and Donnie Vestal of Winston-Salem, N.C.,; two brothers, Forrest Maynard and Johnnie Maynard, both of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Dick Baker and the Rev. Gerry Peak. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Associaton.
