Catherine was born in Holdorf, Germany to Karl Joseph Lamphake on Nov. 17, 1837. She has two known siblings, Maria Bernadina Kamphake (born 1839) and Johann Franz Joseph Kamphake (1840-1886). Catherine married Hermann Henrich Vonderheide in Holdorf, Germany, on Feb. 4, 1869. Catherine and her husband had four children while still in Germany: Joseph (1870-1950), Henry (1870-1922), a daughter who died while still in Germany, and August Henry (1873-1959). The family emigrated to American in 1880. By 1900, Catharine was a widow and living in Covington. She died of pneumonia on February 7, 1901 and was interred on February 11, 1901 in St. Joseph Cemetery, Covington.
