Major League Baseball Player. Played Major League Baseball for 8 seasons (1912-1919) as a right-handed pitcher for 3 different teams. Broke into the Majors with the Philadelphia Phillies, pitching for them from 1912 to 1918. Won 21 games in 1914 and in 1915. In 1915 he helped the Phillies win the National League pennant, and pitched for them against the Red Sox in the World Series. He started the 2nd Game of the series, and engaged the Sox's Rube Foster in a pitching duel that resulted in Boston winning the game 2 to 1. The Red Sox would go on to defeat the Phils in 5 games. Traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 1918 season. In 1919, he was again traded, this time to the Chicago White Sox, which that year would become the infamous "Black Sox" team. His only appearance in that scandal-tainted 1919 World Series was a one-inning relief stint in Game 5. That appearance was his last in a Major League uniform. He ended his career with totals of 91 Wins-70 Losses,6 Saves, 482 strikeouts and a 2.96 ERA.
