Mary Jane Braffett was born in 1831 in Orange County, New York, the 3rd child of Hezekiah Braffett and Elizabeth Newberry. She married Stephen E. Dickens about 1854.
Cemetery of the Highlands confirmed in 2019 that there are just 3 known Dickens burials in that cemetery (son Charles, his wife Susan, and their son Samuel). The location for the burials of Stephen and Mary Jane may be near this broken stone in the Dickens plot in Highland Mills Town Cemetery.
