Loren was originally signed as an amateur free agent by the New York Yankees in 1945 but he didnt make the majors until he played sparingly on the 1952 World Series Champion team. His contract was purchased by the Philadelphia Athletics in April 1953 and he played in 103 games. In December 1953 he was traded from Philadelphia back to the New York Yankees. After his playing days he became a coach, starting in the minor leagues as a manager in the Pioneer League in 1962-1963 and with the Toledo Mud Hens in 1966. He then became a coach in the major leagues with the New York Yankees for 1967 and became a scout for the team from 1968-1970 as well as 1972-1974, taking the 1971 season to manage the minor league Syracuse Chiefs. His last coaching job was for the Chicago White Sox in 1983 when hitting coach Charlie Lau gave up his position so Loren could qualify for his league pension benefits. He died from cancer at the age of 56.
