Daniel Paul Strohmeier, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Zumwalde) Strohmeier, was born on October 20, 1950, in St. Cloud. He grew up near Watkins and attended Eden Valley School. After school Dan served in the US Army. He returned to Watkins, worked on the family farm and started painting. In 1984, he met the love of his life Mary Heid. He helped raise her daughter Tonya. Together Dan and Mary worked hard to make Dan's painting successful. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed raising pigeons, rabbits and chickens, fishing and watching old westerns; especially Gun Smoke and Bonanza. Dan also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards, shaking dice, Sunday "Fun day" and spending time with his friends and family especially the grandchildren and his dog Sparky. He will greatly missed and remembered for his humor and doing things "his way."

He is survived by Mary Heid of Watkins, step-daughter Tonya (and Jason) Vanasek of Lonsdale, grandchildren Jaelee and Thomas Vanasek, brother, Dave (and Pat) Strohmeier of Watkins, niece, Debbie and nephews Jim, Scott and Mike. He is preceded in death by his parents.
