John David Mosher was born in 1868, probably on the family farm in Centreville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, north of the town of Kentville, the 7th of 8 children of David Mosher and Catherine Huston.
For the 1871 census, the entire 10-person family was enumerated in Centreville. For the 1881 census, John is living in the household of his older sister Jane Mosher Corey with his younger sister Cassie Mosher.
John immigrated to the US in 1886. He was a servant, a livery stable hostler, and an electrician.
John married Mary Elizabeth Murphy in 1899 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. At some point, Mary went back to Nova Scotia and married William Chisholm in 1914. During the 1920s, John lived at 30 Ripley Street, Newton. John died in 1929 in Cambridge, Middlesex County.
