Actress. A star of stage, screen and television, she will best be remembered for her award-winning role as Rhoda Morgenstern on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and its spin-off "Rhoda." Starting her career as a dancer and chorus girl on Broadway, her breakthrough role came in 1970 when she joined the cast of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" for which she won four Emmy Awards for the part — three for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and one for "Rhoda." She later starred on "Valerie" (which the title was changed to "Valerie's Family" and then "The Hogan Family" after she left at end of the second season), in addition to films including "Freebie and the Bean" and "Chapter Two." In 2010 she received a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Tallulah Bankhead in "Looped."
