I believe that Henry was born Bernard Heinrich Westendorf ( the correct spelling) on 13 Dec 1866 in Voerden, Hannover, Germany (see note 1). I have been searching for Bernard Heinrich for a while to complete the missing family information on him. Family history has been shared over the years, that he immigrated as a young man from Germany and then died as a young man in Philadelphia. I believe that he immigrated through the port of New York in Nov of 1883 (see note 2). I believe that I have located his death certificate (Henry Westondorf) on which it states that he died on 5 Jan 1884. The record states that is father is H. Westondorf. Heinrich Westendorf is listed as his father on the baptismal record (see note 1). Family history also has it that he went to America in connection to his uncle Frederick Westendorf living in Philadelphia. Frederick is buried in New Cathedral Cemetery (same family plot). Henry's (Bernard Heinrich) death certificate states that he is also buried in New Cathedral Cemetery. Two reliable sources, who has visited the cemetery, and have shared with me that Frederick and Henry are buried in the same plot. He is interned in Section G, Range 9, Lot No. 7. Additional conformation that this is Bernard Heinrich Westendorf, Frederick's nephew, is that Frederick lived at 322 East Cumberland St. in 1884 (see note 4), is the same as the address stated on Henry's death certificate.
I believe that he is the oldest child of Diedrich Heinrich Westendorf (Frederick's older brother) and Catharina Maria Elisabeth Schmidt. He had one sister Catharina Maria (Mary) and three brothers, Gerhard Joseph, Heinrich who died in Germany at just over 1 year of age and Heinrich (Henry) Westendorf (see note 3). His parents and siblings eventually immigrated to the USA in the mid 1890's, where they settled in Stearns Co. Minnesota. They all lived and eventually died there after long and prosperous lives. Joseph was my mother's father(my grandfather).
