OBITUARY

The funeral of the late Mrs. Geo. Martens was held at the Martens home six miles north of Hooper, Monday afternoon at one o'clock and was conducted by Rev. A. Ollendorf. Interment was in the Ollendorf cemetery.

Mrs. Martens, who was twenty-four years of age at the time of her death, was born in Germany December 4, 1890. She died early Saturday morning, August 28, 1915 of peritonitis. She had been ill for a couple of weeks, but it was not considered serious until Thursday when she became worse. A local physician was called in and noting her condition called in an Omaha specialist for consultation. Upon an examination they found she was beyond hope of saving. All that was possible was done, but to no avail as she passed away the following day.

As Christine Ahrens she came to this country, and this locality in 1909, and was married to George Martens on April 26 of this year. She leaves besides her husband, her parents, twelve brothers and sisters and a great number of sorrowing friends to mourn her untimely death.

The deepest sympathies of the community go out to the bereaved husband and relatives.
