Musician. Cathedral organist and Master of Choristers. Father of Robert Cooke. Began his career at the age of nine as a chorister under Dr. Pepusch, the composer of the 'Beggar's Opera'. His 'Christmas Ode' in a Handelian style, one of his relatively few large-scale pieces, has in recent years been successfully revived.
