Services for William P. McKenzie, C. S. B., former president and director of The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, who passed on at his Cambridge home Tuesday, will be held in the Story Chapel, Mt. Auburn Cemetery tomorrow at 2 p.m.
A native of Almonte, Ont., he was educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto University, Knox College and Auburn Theological Seminary. After serving briefly as pastor of a Presbyterian church, he taught English literature at Rochester University during which time he became a convert to Christian Science.
He became a “first member” of The Mother Church in 1894 and was one of the original trustees of the Christian Science Publishing Society. At the invitation of Mary Baker Eddy, he became a member of the committee which prepared the Bible lessons for Christian Science service.
Mr. McKenzie twice served as president of The Mother Church here and became a director of the church in 1932. He had been active as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science for many years.
Besides wife, Mrs. Daisette D. S. McKenzie, he leaves a son, G. Stuart McKenzie of Concord and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Pritchard, of Cambridge.
