There is an Asa Newell buried in Worcester County, Massachusetts, but this appears to be a different family from the family of Asa Newell and Martha "Lucy" of Chittenden County, Vermont.

Daniel Newell and his brother Oliver were probably born in Strafford, Orange County, Vermont. Their father Asa was enumerated in the 1790 census in Strafford, Orange County, Vermont and in the 1800 census in Milton, Chittenden County, Vermont. Daniel's birth year is unknown.

Daniel Newell is possibly buried in the same cemetery in Decaturville where his daughter and father-in-law are buried.
