Poet, Linguist, and Politician. A member of the Liberal Party, Blix served Norway on the Council of State Division in Stockholm and served twice as Norway's Minister of Education and Church Affairs. He was Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oslo, authored hymns, and translated all of the New Testament and part of the Old Testament into Landsmål (Nyorsk). Part of the Nationalistic Movement, Blix wrote extensively in Landsmål rather than in Danish and promoted the use of Landsmål in Norwegian schools.
