She was the beloved wife of Dr. Philip Meltzer. Born in Philadelphia, she had resided in Yardley, Pa. for the past 51 years. A Temple University graduate, she worked at the University of Pennsylvania Moore School of Engineering for five years.
In 1945, she was selected by the U. S. Army as one of the first six programmers of the ENIAC computer. In 1997, she was inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame, along with the other original ENIAC programmers.
Marlyn enjoyed volunteering at Shir Ami Library and Sunday school story hour. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 10 years for the Greenwood House in Ewing, NJ. She was the treasurer of the Trenton/Lawrenceville chapter of Hadassah and an active member of Women for Greenwood House.
During the past 4 years, she had knitted more than 500 chemo hats for the Susan B. Komen Foundation in Philadelphia. Evening during her own treatments, she always thought of others that were in need.
She is survived by her devoted son, Hugh Meltzer; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Craig Levine; her loving grandchildren, Aaron Webb-Meltzer, Aaron and Sarah Levine, and her caring godson, Scott Caster. She will be remembered with love and affection by her many friends and extended family members.
Private funeral services are being held with interment in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park (Adath Israel Section).
