Actor. He was one of Germany's most popular character performers from the 1930s to the late 1960s. Wery entered films in 1932 after much stage experience and became a star playing earnest authority figures. His most famous performance was in the title role of the biopic "Sebastian Kneipp - Der Wasserdoktor" (1958). He was married to screenwriter Erna Fentsch. Wery retired from movies in 1971 due to health reasons.
