Longtime Anchorage resident and Realtor Sidsel Bergmann, 48, died of cancer March 2, 1996, at Alaska Regional Hospital. A celebration of life is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at 9751 Arlene St. A graveside service will be held this spring at Angelus Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bergmann was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Seattle. She lived in Japan from age 6 until graduating from Nile C. Kinnick High School in Yokohama in 1966. She returned to Seattle in 1966 to attend Seattle Community College. In 1968, she came to Alaska to work as a legal secretary for the U.S. attorney's office in Anchorage and later was employed by the law offices of Groh and Benkert. In 1973, Mrs. Bergmann began her real estate career with Area Inc. Realtors, and in 1978, became affiliated with Real Estate Corner of Alaska. In 1980, she was a founding associate broker of the newly-created firm, RE/MAX Properties Inc. She was a member of the RE/MAX International Hall of Fame which represents the top 2 percent of all agents in North America. She held the certified residential specialist designation (CRS), an honor held by less than 4 percent of all Realtors nationally. Mrs. Bergmann assisted many relocating corporate employees through her affiliation with the Employee Relocation Council. Co-workers said: '' Sidsel was renowned for her success in overcoming obstacles and finding solutions for the many people she helped. She believed in performing a service honestly and without wasting any valuable time. Sidsel was a warm and generous person always ready to extend a hand.'' Mrs. Bergmann enjoyed traveling with her husband, Michael, and visited at least 50 foreign countries. She also enjoyed the outdoors with her family and pets, flower gardening, bird watching and especially, preparing exemplary gourmet meals.

Survivors are her husband, Michael Bergmann, their daughter, Maia Hatter, and Maia's children, James and Zakkarie of Anchorage; stepdaughter, Michele Bergmann of Anchorage; brother, Jim Arnesen of Anchorage, and his children, Jake of Seattle, Aksel and Britt, of Juneau; brother, Roy Arnesen of San Francisco, and his children, Elysia and Brandon, of Seattle; and her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Arnesen of Hatano, Japan. Mrs. Bergmann was an organ donor and donated her corneas for humanitarian purposes to Life Alaska. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
