Stephen J. Hendershot, Sr., 69, of Honesdale, died on Monday, 28 Apr 2014 at his home. He is survived by his wife, the former Darlene A. Williams. The couple married on 17 Dec 1966.

Born on 3 Jun 1944 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lena Margaret Braffet Hendershot and a graduate of Hawley High School.

Later he was employed at the Keystone Blind Association where he was a janitor for 19 years until becoming ill.

A "jack of all trades," he loved tinkering with anything mechanical. He also enjoyed reading western books.

Also surviving are his sons Stephen Hendershot Jr. and Ronald Hendershot of Honesdale; his daughter Darlene Gelderman and husband Mike of Honesdale; a brother James Hendershot of Springfield, VA; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Katherine Hendershot.

Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main Street Honesdale on Thursday, 1 May from 5 to 7. As per his request, cremation will follow.
