Mr. John Sands, age 86, of Smyrna, passed away Sunday, 13 Feb 2011. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, 17 Feb at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Rev. Gordon Reinertsen officiating. Burial will be in the Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.

Mr. Sands served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California and a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Atlanta.

Surviving are: wife, Catherine Sands of Smyrna; son and daughter-in-law, Rick Sands & Denise Taylor of Atlanta; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Joe Nadeau of Buford; 3 grandchildren, Zachary & Caitlin Nadeau, Jonathan Sands. Those who wish may make contributions to the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 3264 Northside Pkwy, Atlanta, Georgia 30327. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna.
