Norma Nell Ruth (Pedrotta) Senff, age 100, passed away at a Santa Maria care facility on January 13, 2022. Her kind and generous spirit will forever resonate in the lives of those who loved her.
Norma is survived by her sister Marian (Pedrotta) Buley of San Luis Obispo, sons Gary Senff of Santa Maria, and Gregory (Carol) Senff of Camarillo, CA; grandchildren, Todd, Nicole and Eric, and seven great-grandchildren.
Norma was born to Clara Braffet Ruth, young widow of Kenneth Ruth (who had died in the Great Flu Pandemic) on August 10, 1921. In her early years, Norma and her mother lived in San Miguel, where Clara and her friend Isabel ran a small cafe, and where Norma was surrounded by the love of many aunts, uncles and cousins. When Clara married her 2nd husband, Louis Pedrotta, they moved to Cayucos where Norma's new stepdad had a blacksmith shop with his father. From then on, Louis raised Norma as his own, and told her she "was a Pedrotta now"! Soon, the little family grew. Norma's sister Marian was born, then little brother Jimmy, and they had many happy years together. Sadly, shortly after World War II began, Louis passed away from pneumonia after taking part in the rescue of merchant seamen when their ship was shelled and sunk by a Japanese sub in coastal waters. The grief-stricken family moved from Cayucos to Santa Maria, where Clara could be close to her sister Mary, and where Norma worked at a doctor's office. It was in Santa Maria that Norma met her future husband Robert Senff, and they married on November 22, 1947. Norma and Bob were blessed with two sons, and a life blessed with love and togetherness. Bob worked for Union Oil for 35 years, and he and Norma enjoyed travel and family for many years following his retirement in 1981. Bob passed away in 1997.
