Professional Baseball Player. Drafted in the 1983 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets in the fourth round as a pitcher. For the first few years he played in their farm system before making his major league debut on September 24, 1988 for the Mets. He played for the Mets for two seasons (1988 to 1989), the Minnesota Twins (1989 to 1992), the Philadelphia Phillies (1993 to 1996) and the Boston Red Sox (1998). He also spent the 1997 season with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) League in Japan. He was a member of the 1991 Minnesota Twins World Series Championship team. While in the MLB he posted a win–loss record of 31–38, an ERA of 4.66 and 437 strikeouts in 204 games.
